The Meritorious Service Award is given to those members who have demonstrated a high level of dedication to saving lives through educational efforts.  Below is a listing of individuals and the departments or organizations they represent.  Any member in good standing may submit a nomination for the Meritorious Service Award to the Board of Directors prior to the Annual Meeting in December.  The Board of Directors shall vote on the nominations and the receipient shall be presented with the Award at the Annual Membership Meeting in December.

Criteria for Service Award

Innovation

Innovative uses of outside programs that are not developed within the department.

Creativity

Creative methods in developing new programs

Evaluation

Efficient methods of evaluating and identifying fire problems; effective documentation

Planning

Identifiable objectives and goals; effective planning team

Implementation

Methods of "selling" fire safety information to the public; putting the plan into action

Community Support

Effective use of community resources: Insurance Agencies, Jaycees, Public School System, Industry, etc.

Political Support

Contributions, verbal or written support

Media Involvement

Effective use of TV, radio, newspaper, etc.

Program Strategy

Appropriate format for audience; proper time and place of presentation

Clarity & Quality of Programs

Smoothness of presentations, conveying the message in an effective manner for target groups (i.e. high risk groups)
